@aud too bubbly!
It works the tele in a narrower design but I agree, especially some of the vintage ones are just bulbous.
@Infoseepage @jt_rebelo I wonder if there’s a counter involving drone swarms that has been developed but never deployed publicly.
I know there was a ton of (public) research about swarms years ago and that tells me privately things have been going on even longer, but it is curious we haven’t to my knowledge seen them in use.
@Infoseepage @jt_rebelo this is a really, really good analogy.
Terrifying.
Jeff I have had help combing TWO THOUSAND sources for deeply scientific research work I’m doing and there are people who would legitimately rather I flew across the globe and spent a year’s sojourn in various locales rather than leverage something that with careful control helps me in hours or days.
I still use primary sources, but it’s like… Google has many issues. They also enabled a lot of knowledge work.
As you said, opinions vary, and increasingly they are very ignorant.
@Infoseepage @jt_rebelo rods from God say hello* 👋
But for conventional stockpiled weapons it’s soon game over due to this, absolutely.
*I know allegedly they were never built and deployed. Allegedly.
@liztai @cliffle exactly the same regarding techniques.
I have a whole control framework developed that works *astoundingly well* for my research work (not writing!) and I can’t even hint at what I’m doing without getting burned at the stake.
I really look forward to this pivoting eventually, for now I just keep working away doing the best and most satisfying work of my life, and they’ll assume I’m relying on machines to do my thinking for me and that couldn’t be further from the truth.
@rickoooooo @cliffle someone blocked me today for having a mildly different read on what someone else said. It wasn’t even inflammatory and I was just saying what I thought about their conclusion.
People are absolutely unhinged around these topics on this platform, I’m getting the best information about emergent research on LinkedIn right now which says a lot about how absolutely garbage the discourse is.
Yeah, my guess is there was a proprietary solution not public.
They were absolutely garbage at it and now do a good job. Not perfect, of course, still prone to typical LLM issues on occasion.
Claude and GPT both got better in this regard specifically around spring 2025, but you’ll still see issues with like those garbage summarizers that care providers use or even the really terrible ones Microsoft integrated with 365.
Chain of thought may indeed have some role.
@optilude I actually found a pic I took years ago!
The input volume is not adjustable and it is a little bit quieter than amplified speaker but there doesn’t seem to be increased noise floor. I meant to drill and mount a jack but I just left a conversion cable snaking out of the case lol.
@optilude you probably know this, but just in case you don’t the Ox has an RCA (yes, really) jack inside tha acts an an aux input and can take line level signals.
It works very well and it’s pretty easy to access once the cover is off (and then reattached).
I use it for speaker modeling for amp sims that dont have a power amp :).
