This last day of the year

After a year of process, from December to December, I moved the final load of my mother's belongings out of her storage unit. I saved the hard things for last, knowing they would be the hardest to sort through and distribute. My mother had a large collection of books. When she lived by the beach, she kept the windows open 24/7 because of the poison gas she perceived being pumped into her apartment.
