You'll be hearing a lot about 'ballot curing' as early votes are counted. It's the process allowed in some states where voters have days or weeks to fix technical issues with their mail-in ballots.

One major source of these problems: people under 40 who don't have a consistent cursive signature.

What is ‘ballot curing’? Election expert explains the method for fixing errors made when voters cast their ballots

Ballot curing aims to ensure that every valid vote is counted, even those with messy signatures, misspelled names or missing IDs.

NV’s sec'y of state, seeing high number of rejected ballots in Clark and Washoe, says biggest issue is signatures of younger voters don’t always match what’s on their driver’s licenses:

“It’s mostly the fact that young people don’t have signatures these days. And when they did register to vote through the automatic voter registration process, they signed a digital pad at D.M.V., and that became their license signature.”

The most maddening tech discourse these days is that we need AI to figure out how to solve climate change.

We've known how to completely solve climate change for more than a decade, thanks. We just don't want to.

Please be extra kind to election workers today. They're doing vitally important work with long hours and low pay, and have to deal with all kinds of crap from irate citizens and, occasionally, fascist thugs.

As election night nears, open or bookmark our guide to tonight's elections and to the hundreds of races we are watching.

Dutch judge uses chatGPT to answer a *factual question* about the lifetime of solar panels which was used in determining the extent of compensation. Really. Really. https://www.nu.nl/tweakers/6323110/rechter-gebruikt-chatbot-chatgpt-in-een-uitspraak.html @alex
