in a world that made sense, we wouldn’t copy these media artifacts from server to server because requesting it directly from the source would be both fast for the requestor and lightweight for the source server.

it’s a shame lightweight caching proxies at the edge don’t get the big parties and glamorous media coverage and fat paychecks because if’n they did maybe we’d stop trying to reinvent how to efficiently cache and serve the same ten file formats so we don’t make them fall over when someone asks for one of those files because we sure ain’t good at it in the general case. install squid. be happier.

I keep seeing articles about the latest Disney Live Action film saying "Who is this for?" and "Why did they make this?"

They made it because it won't lose them any money, and it let's them give less money to the animators who worked on their previous films.

They made it bad because it doesn't matter how bad it is.

Hell, the worse they make it the more people will talk about it, and the more people will watch it just to see what the controversy is about.

We win against Disney by not talking about what their films.

@alex I can however make bespoke routers from non-routing hardware made in the same places and I double dog dare them to go for a ban on arbitrary computing resources.
