Working on the #medieval #boarspears for a #medievalhunting event this year. Dyed also some #silk for the fringes, but that will need some more work.
What does one do with #beads remaining from other #paternoster ? Make more of them. Mostly rock crystall, gildened, silvered beads, some #emarald, coral, tassel with #goldlahn .

Source image is from an Altar by Stefan Lochner, arround 1450.
Normally I do not share political content via our Group accounts, but this is too important. On Facebook, the image had been deleted and the author , J.J. Seiler was temporaliy blocked.
A glas of #wine and finished sewing the #14thcentury #kettlehat #liner -next (among other things): the #buckle for the #chinstrap

Myriams reconstruction of the knitted cap from Basel , Hist. Museum, Inv. 1981.10
made with stockingstitch with a 2ply, fine, hand-spun yarn, dyed with birch leaves
Fulled using a teasel to raise the nap which was then cut down with scissors.
Unlike the original one it has no dagging cut into the lower border.

1/2 I recently heard the notion in an online discussion, that medieval christian veiling was a matter of practicality.

That is something I have heard quite regulary in reenactment/living history circles and it always irks me a bit when that aspect of veiling is so heavily emphasised. Yes, veils can also have practical effects like holding back the hair for working, protecting the head from dust, sun and the elements in general.
