Happy Discardia!
Give yourself some upgrades this week:
- Take at least the first step toward ridding your home of a daily annoyance (rearrange/fix/replace).
- Get a more effective & more comfortable mask to keep you & others safer (I like the Moldex Airwave N95).
- Schedule a day for relaxation & letting go of all stress.
- Refresh your bed with clean sheets & make a welcoming place for rest.
- Discard an old nagging "should" that no longer fits who you are & want to be.

The simple act of sharing heals the giver & the receiver.

Offer to help that person struggling off the bus with a baby stroller & a wiggly toddler.

Give away the coat you haven't worn for two years (or more).

Tip generously when you can; and give that person on the street a $5 or a $20 if it means far more to them than you.

Buy an extra peach at the farmers' market & find someone hungry to give it to.

Be more kind, including to yourself.

Times are hard; everyone needs a little mercy.

Welcome to the September time of Discardia. This is a time of Quality Over Quantity in the Discardian annual cycle, but it is also a time of harvest.

Make time to treasure your abundance, whatever forms it takes. For many but sadly not all it may include enough food, comfortable clothing, safe shelter, health. For some it is resilience, wisdom, adaptation.

We all do better when we all do better, so find the bounty you have beyond your needs and share with others.

Happy Discardia!

The world has changed around us a lot in the past five years. Create a quiet time for yourself to find who you are now and what this now-you wants and needs. Is there a quiet place in nature you can get to or somewhere with few people and long vistas?

Give yourself some do-not-disturb space to notice and settle into now.

Later look at your habits, home, to-do's, etc. & prune what is no longer compatible.

Seek out that which can be changed for the better and lean on it

Happy Discardia! March Discardia is about Getting Started.

What pleasure have you been holding off on that you can bring into your life?

Yes, start that book.
Yes, plant that seed.
Yes, watch that "beginner's guide to..." and then try it out.
Yes, say "You know, I'd really rather ... instead."

Happy winter Discardia!

Boundaries are self-care, and you deserve them.

Find a place of calm. Ground yourself in who you are, what you need, and what makes you happy.

As we enter this family-intense time of year, remember to give yourself and others space to hold identity and difference.

When you need physical space to make that easier, offer to run that errand, walk the dog, get the decoration box from the attic, etc. or just head to the bathroom. Catch your breath, find your calm ground.

Happy Discardia!

Give yourself the gift of letting go of some less-important stuff. Find something that makes you sigh when you trip over it hogging your time or home and gently escort it out of your life.

Doesn't mean it was bad, or a waste of your past time or money, just that it isn't supportive of you now. Move it out and move on up!
