I’ve been doing classic Mac dev on a G4 w/ MacOS 9.2, and today I went ahead and tested compatibility with older MacOS versions, starting with 7.0 up
The testing crashed on some extremely obvious bugs, like forgetting to set the GrafPort and calling the wrong OS method to update windows; issues OS 9 completely ignored
Really made me appreciate how much hidden work went into MacOS 9 to make the OS more resilient against misbehaving apps to keep them from crashing
The radiation pattern of the cone and discone antenna is omnidirectional except directly overhead.
Reference:
One issue I’m concerned with is the antenna configuration. It would be nice if every dongle could be outfitted with an antenna that radiated across a large variation of frequencies allowing each to be general purpose except for the software accessing it.
Enter what I think is the solution: a cone or a discone antenna.
“A Discone antenna is known for its capability to copy the shape of a cone, which makes it perfect as an all-purpose radio receiver”
Think what assists you inspect the air website traffic or tracking terminals successfully? It's the Discone Antenna. Currently, considering that you're below, we're thinking that you don't have much of a hint regarding this antenna whatsoever.
I’m in the process of creating a 1U rack mounted SDR array that will run off a single raspberry pi. The raspberry pi having four USB ports would allow for as many SDR dongles to be attached.
My thought is to have the SMA connectors available on the front panel, allowing for antennas to be attached and placed however desired.
Everything could be contained in a “typical” project chassis with only air vents and SMA ports needing to be drilled out.
@0xabad1dea @nixCraft I am computer literate and sometimes "just" using linux and setting up my own media server makes me question all of my life choices...
Not most days, but some of them...
