We concluded May at DRA by swapping laptops for chopping boards.

Our Friday coworking turned into a full-on cooking session-a bit chaotic, everyone sharing different tips, commenting on each other's chopping skills, and somehow it all came together beautifully at the end.
Special mention to OLS and DRA community members who didn't participate in cooking but acted as very stern judges on Zoom 😄

Some glimpses from our DRA cooking together session!

RSEs, this one is for you! 👋
Join us for a full-day satellite event at RSECon26 in Sheffield- "Reproducible Research for RSEs: How to, and How to Support Others to"

📅 8 September 2026, 09:00–16:00 · The Wave, Sheffield

Organised by DRA & UKRN, the day covers:
→ Open publishing, data sharing & reproducible computation
→ How to train colleagues on reproducibility
→ Co-creation of materials tailored to RSEs

Spaces are limited.

It's Research Software Week!

At DRA, research software is the foundation of open and reproducible science. To celebrate, here are free resources our trainers and RSEs have contributed to- all on Zenodo like Pixi environments, apptainer workflows, software architecture, reproducible code, teaching software skills.

Happy Research Software Week to everyone building, teaching and championing research software!

3 days to go!
Vibe coding is fun. But is it reproducible? Could it handle peer review?

Join us June 5th, 13:00–14:30 CET for “Beyond Vibe Coding: Responsible AI-Assisted Data Analysis for Reproducible Research”- a free online workshop led by Ilona Lipp.

You’ll learn how to use AI coding tools that hold up to scientific scrutiny and develop your own criteria for responsible AI use.

@digiresacademy From https://www.osti.gov/etdeweb/biblio/20138217 : "ASSCOPS (Analysis of Simultaneous Sodium Combustion in Pool and Spray) has been developed for analyses of thermal consequences of sodium leak and fire accidents in LMFBRs."

This software comes from Japan and I cannot tell if the researcher who named this was naïve, disgruntled, or just trolling everyone.

Imagine your PI going to a serious conference on fast reactor safety and having to introduce this program with a straight face.

The Karlspreis Forum in Aachen asked big questions about Europe's future. What stayed with us was something closer to home.

The room was full of diverse voices-different countries, needs, histories and perspectives. Europe is not one thing. It never has been.

At DRA, we feel that every day. Our training is never one-size-fits-all. We design courses and events for the community in front of us — keeping their disciplines, goals and constraints at the forefront.

Thankful for the invitation.

Have you been to Open-Topia yet?
You'll likely arrive there through Frustration Station, but you can use your arrow keys to explore fantastical spaces such as the Visionary Forest or Meet-Tropolis.

But beware of the Job Insecurity Dragon! 🐲 😱

Super proud to share that @HeidiSeibold is speaking tomorrow at the PlantMicrobe Seminar at LMU Munich!

Talk: "Open Science and Research Software Engineering-Building Blocks for Quality Research"

Reproducibility crisis, scientific fraud, untraceable code, these aren't just overlooked mistakes, they're ongoing systemic problems. Heidi will walk through practical Open Science + Research Software Engineering strategies.

LMU Martinsried, Room B01.027 | 19.05.2026 at 13:00. https://www.bio.lmu.de/de/aktuelles/alle-veranstaltungen/veranstaltung/open-science-and-research-software-engineering-building-blocks-for-quality-research-9a38fafa.html
