For info like "What is the current (National) law/policy on [Given subject]" I still check .gov sites. It's gross, but illuminating.

For real info though? Medical stuff? Science? I look towards Canada or the UK. With envy towards their healthcare systems.

When we say “billionaires should not exist,” what we mean is:

Instead of billionaires…
Everyone should have healthcare.
Everyone should have housing.
Everyone should have access to healthy food and clean water.

Billionaires are a policy failure.

Happy #Caturday from Gobbo!

We keep Dubia roaches in a little box for our lizard; roaches nest in egg crates. #GoblinTheCat LOVES the smell of those egg crates. He often tries to crawl into the bug box (half his size) and often knocks it over. Sometimes we let him just go to town on some of the material and be weird about it.

Hoping we all find this amount of joy in life too.

If I could make it go away I would; I believe the world was a better place before all this AI nonsense. I'm not proud of using it, and I don't aim to convince anyone towards that end.

I just think it's sad/problematic to see folks sheepily lean into this slide towards passivity.

Had a chat with my mom the other day - she's in her 70s. She understood AI was bad, but not *why* - and that's the gap that media needs to bridge more effectively.

Stay safe.

@moonrabbit

I hate the pace at which we're adopting AI, but I still sometimes use Copilot at work.

It's a great way to lay out a plan to try something you've never done before - for example outlining basic testing strategies given a specific web configuration. But then you've gotta QUESTION everything it says and go do your own thinking and research.

She's surrending her voice and agency to a non-entity, and becoming a non-entity herself in the process. That's deeply sad.

I feel like the correct response here is to assume the person is in fact not using AI at all. They simply cannot communicate via email effectively in a professional setting.

Their use of AI is a factor, but the result is the issue. This is like folks in the 60s saying "Sorry officer, I had a few too many drinks" and expecting/receiving an understanding response.

They're both irresponsible uses of a technology (AI, high-speed travel) moving faster than the speed of regulation.

When I was eligible to vote in my first federal election, I almost didn't. Both parties were "the same," none was perfect, both had crap associated with them.

But, I worked in a lab that had people from around the world. Our chemist was a Pole who had skied down a mountain in the dead of night to escape Poland when it was behind the Iron Curtain. He made it to Canada as a political refugee. Then he became a resident. Then he was eligible to apply for citizenship.

One day...

Amusingly, it's only ever after my *wife* has baked something that I have to clean the oven.

I adore her, so I've taken to leaving a pan on the lower rack (easier than pestering her about it) whenever I'm done.

Sometimes marriage is about damage control. <3
