How wasn't this already in the news?
Shit's so fucking weird right now. Any other time in history, some president decided to go 4x4 riding through the reflecting pool and there'd be a massive spike in the robe industry as all current ones got rent.
But not this time. This time it apparently comes out after vandals are blamed for the result.
Why did Trump go 4x4ing in the pool? Why wouldn't he? America don't respect herself enough to stop him.

Amazing thread
Great thread.
And for folks that missed it in the last few days, SMPTE has open sourced it's standards library.

Number of Prime Ministers in European countries (since 2016)
(by u/maven_mapping)
Here’s a thought on the current heatwave that is absolutely destroying humankind across Europe atm: maybe we should push for a regulation to allow people — ALL people — to stop working in temperatures above 30C. The economy would collapse and finally politicians would take fighting the climate crisis as a priority, rather than leaning into the bullshit narrative that “summer is summer” from their air-conditioned ivory towers.
Governments should subsidize heat pumps (and solar/wind) and require them in building codes, including a requirement that they can be fully used for heating and for cooling; as well as expedite phasing out other means of heating.
This is a public health and safety issue.
