Before a #Kambo 🐸 #ceremony, the first thing to do is to drink water 💧. Plenty of it. Between 1 and 2 litres! Occasionally water is replaced by a manioc juice obtained from boiling the roots. It's a medium thick liquid, pretty much tasteless. See the photo attached.

This needs to be taken on an empty stomach, this is the reason why Kambo ceremonies take place in the morning.

This amount of water will make sense later.

My first reaction to Kambo was disappointment: where are the frogs?!

Typically during a Kambo ceremony, you don't see the frogs. Their secretions have already been extracted and are stored dried on a piece of wood.

So, for the curious (me included), here is what the frog looks like (from Wikipedia): Phyllomedusa bicolor, bicolor tree-frog.

It is a San Pedro cactus intertwined with a Brugmansia (Angel's trumpet), which is closely related to Datura, another psychoactive plant. Although there, it was purely an ornamental plant.

Unlike the one prepared with fresh cactus that I shared earlier, this one is made from dried powder.
Unfortunately, I wasn't there to follow the whole process, and I don't know the details.
