My cover photo is meteor crater in Arizona, taken from a plane that gave me a particularly nice view of it. My icon is Poster Guy from Futurama. Their juxtaposition here in my profile is a delight.

That’s a whole mess of elegant clarkia, tansy leafed phacelia & mallow, then red sticky monkey flower, white sage, a closeup of the elegant clarkia blooms.
These clarkia and phacelia bloom prolifically and are easy to start from seeds. They go to seed after blooming so long as you let them die back and dry out a bit before doing any clearing. If you get a few one spring, you probably won’t need to buy more seeds again.

I rescued this orchid from a trash can years ago. Cut off it’s dead flower stalk, removed it’s moldy potting medium. Cut off some dead roots. Repotted in orchid bark, let it recover. Started fertilizing regularly. It blooms a couple times a year I think. The only orchid I’ve managed to keep alive.
