Social media decline: Ending for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok

Social media is on the decline. Instagram is all ads. No one's posting on BeReal. TikTok is for influencers. The new place for sharing: group chats.

This is worth reading and considering. My take: There is no rule that can be applied in every case. Sometimes “no moral compromise” is the necessary stance. And sometimes (I’ll even say usually) a bit of compromise can do a lot of good. https://open.substack.com/pub/matthewyglesias/p/the-two-kinds-of-progressives?r=qa4y8&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post
The two kinds of progressives

Moralists vs. pragmatists

@duanetoops @bookstodon yes! Faith and doubt, like light and dark, go together. You can’t have one without the other. If you have faith, you doubt. And if you doubt, you have faith.
@jbf1755 I’m confused about how to think about this. I think it’s important to have two functioning parties in a two party system. One says “forward into the future!” and another says “hold on to what we’ve built!” But the R party isn’t playing that role and is dysfunctional. So…is the inability to elect a speaker good, because I don’t want THIS R party to achieve its legislative goals? Or is it bad, because our government will be be brought to its knees by their dysfunction?
@jbf1755 I’m a regular listener of Now and Then. Very appreciative of what you do. Happy to have found you here.
@ToddRobinson Hmmm. I’m not a meditation teacher. Don’t many techniques include letting go of the technique?

A fun example. Catcher in the Rye is all about accepting oneself as the odd one out. You probably didn't need the message as much as others. 😉
