Today the university that is hosting us gave us some cool gifts. Then I took students to the Église Notre-Dame La Delbade and the Jardin des Plantes. We finished the day with a group dinner of cassoulet followed by creme brûlée.

I took students on a walk through the Capitole area of Toulouse. Tomorrow we start classes. Do you think sculptors consider their work will be a resting place for pigeons? Deep thoughts happening in this scholarly environment. 😂

Study Abroad Day 1
For the next 24 days, I'm in France teaching students in our study abroad program. We're in Toulouse for a while, then head north. I can't wait to explore more. These were taken on the Garrone River this morning.

I'm filled with a deep, steady anger when the cruelty is treated as normal, or, even worse, justified. These are our neighbors, friends, and family and deserve to be treated with respect and decency, especially by our government. If you can't see that, it's time for you to unfollow me. When I hear anyone say that people there (or anywhere) deserve what ICE is doing, something in me snaps. They are just like you and me - trying to live life. Families are being torn apart, kids afraid to go to school, and entire communities trying to stay safe from their own federal government. 2/4

I lived in Minnesota from 2008-2013 (Twin Cities) and 2016-2024 (Mankato) and visited when I didn't live there those 3 years. I earned my PhD in Minnesota. I think of Minnesota in small, ordinary moments - the crunch of snow, the hikes with my women's hiking club, and meals with friends. 1/4
