The government says it’s fine. Here’s an answer I got from ESDC after the shuffle a couple of weeks ago.
One exchange we cut for length that will be of some interest to digital government mavens in Canada, especially those named @sboots whose advice on reform has not penetrated to the highest levels:
At the FWD50 digital government conference, ex-public servant Sean Boots gets a rock-star entrance. A full room for Anita Anand got sparse over a couple of intervening speakers, and now has filled up again.
“We made a thing! It works a quarter of the time.”

Did the person who wrote the first part also write the second part?

Had he or she MET the person who wrote the second part?

New AI classifier for indicating AI-written text

We’re launching a classifier trained to distinguish between AI-written and human-written text.

This is really good canal-freezing weather coming up.

Interesting tidbit from a briefing note about return-to-office plans at Infrastructure Canada. They're happy they've added a lot of staff who aren't in Ottawa or Montreal, where their main offices are, but aren't sure what they're going to do with those people's office arrangements.

Also, this math for HQ sounds ugly, with the physical space just barely able to accommodate the people who are being ordered to use it.

I’ve just come in from disinterring the blow-up reindeer out front and, well, the weather outside is frightful.

The OCDSB is closed tomorrow. They were, let's face it, just going to be fooling around anyway.

Good luck with your child care, parents working outside the home!

If you find yourself writing a sentence like this, maybe pause and look out the window for a minute first.

As it stands today, the monument in Ottawa intentionally ignores the suffering of millions of people.

I did lose my footing a bit because I wasn't expecting the Treasury Board president's answer to the first questions to be "no."
@davidreevely I mean, so much of their problem is that they prioritize coming and making speeches and then they leave (whether physically or mentally) before they can listen to the perspectives of others.

Almost a hostile witness giving one word answers :-)
@davidreevely @sboots I’m still surprised when I run into people that don’t know Sean. I feel like everyone should know him by now.
@vasta @davidreevely Aw, thanks Sameer. 😊❤️

@sboots @vasta @davidreevely She needs a button.

(The “I know Sean Boots” one.)

@geekingirl @vasta @davidreevely Technically I guess this would be a handy use-case for a "No, I don't know Sean Boots" button. 😂 @mgifford

@sboots @geekingirl @vasta @davidreevely there are a lot of folks in both Europe (where I am now) and the USA where much of my government communications is targeted who could use one.

I like the idea of a "Yes, I know Of Sean Boots AND would love to meet him." button.

Starting to get wordy. Might need a bigger button.

@mgifford @sboots @geekingirl @vasta @davidreevely
No word of a lie, on Tuesday we were discussing the exact same badge at a party in London (UK, not Ontario).

Perhaps we need to embed some kind of tracker in our wrists which flashes an LED when we're within a few hundred metres of someone who knows Sean?

@Edent @sboots @geekingirl @vasta @davidreevely yes, but à phone app might be easier. Speaking of which, I'll be on my way via a car from France to Bath (UK, not Ontario) over the next 2 days. Taking the ferry tomorrow.
@mgifford @Edent Oh nice, enjoy! Safe travels! 🚗🚢
@davidreevely lol, challenging question to get any context across… but a recognition that some structural reform is needed would’ve been nice 😝
