3D guy. Mac guy. Sci-Fi guy. Film guy. He’s just this guy, you know? [He/Him]

Since there seems to be #Firefly in the air, here are some renders of I made of Sean Kennedy's #Serenity model back in the day.

I've got a copy of his tutorial to model the film version, still. One of these days…

Almost missed my semi-annual complaint about #AppleWatch’s Solar Dial being unable to cope with daylight savings time changes and losing alignment on the 23/25 hour days.

I finished the boarding tube and landing gear seen in WWE, and added a couple of foot-ramps. The ramps are designed so that they can lower in either direction, forward or aft, and they operate independently.

I added some bronze and silver accents to various tech details to break up the coloration subtly, as well as scorched metal effects to the cannons.

I revisited the details on the "tech" section in the nose, researching greebles used on digital and physical models and finding some I liked.

I also built the meditation room seen in The Road Home. Concept art shows it was meant to be a straight cylinder, but from what we actually saw in the movie, it makes sense as a triangle.

Next up, the boarding tube at the bottom of the ship. #WhiteStar #LightWave3D #3DArt #Babylon5

Did some revisions of the contouring texture on the undercarriage. I think I've got it set. #WhiteStar #LightWave3D #3DArt #Babylon5

Major texturing for the #WhiteStar is finished. Check out that subsurface scattering on the aft fins in the last render!

Now it’s back to Modeler for a landing bay, meditation room, tiny crew, and I want to add some more greebles to the mechanical sections, they look a little plain. #LightWave3D #3DArt #Babylon5

Congratulations to Rhys Salcombe on his Oscar for Dune Part II. Convincing me to get off my butt and finally learn linear color management on the Foundation 3D forums back in '16 is now only his second-greatest #VFX accomplishment.

Made some (subtle) progress on my #WhiteStar recently. At first I freehanded the "contouring,” but I wasn't satisfied. I got enough of a handle on Photoshop's vector tools. In addition to getting nice smooth arcs, it's also easy to tweak. My model has some shape differences from the original, so exactly rebuilding the original maps wouldn't work.

I also turned sub-surface scattering back on. It's murder on render times, but I love how it looks on the tail.
