The most famous variant of the Katyusha was based on the Studebaker US6 truck, but there were many other chassis including fully tracked ones. For instance, the STZ-5 NATI tractor with an M-13 MLRS was accepted into service #OTD in 1941. #artillery #history #WW2 #WWII
These concrete cubes litter the beaches of Northumberland. They were built during WWII to delay enemy tanks in the event of an invasion across the N Sea. Seems a bit "Something must be done and this is something" kind of thing. However the level ones are good for having lunch off. #WW2 #Northumberland #Defence #BlackAndWhitePhotography #Photography

Bowl Barrow (Neolithic - Bronze Age) in Tinstall Forest, Suffolk. It is prominently sighted on the crest of a small spur above a south facing slope. It survives as a mound, c.20m in diameter and 1.1m in height. Traces of the ditch dug to construct the barrow also remain. The term ‘bowl barrow’ refers to their resemblance to an upturned bowl. #history #ancienthistory #neolithic
