I read Will Lockett's medium piece looking at two outcomes of the AI revolution; one is that AI fails and there is a debt implosion within the AI sector and thus their lenders, and alternatively it succeeds and there is a global unemployment [ & consumption] crisis. I note that without renewable & cool energy, building more AI will also grossly exacerbate the climate crisis.

I have posted "Reeves – Mais 2026", https://davelevy.info/wiki/reeves-mais-2026/ to my wiki, I had a look at Reeves’ Mais Lecture 2026. Here are my notes and links, I have not read all the links yet and so have not drawn conclusions. …
An article arrived in my inbox covering an issue I am thinking about. @AnnPettifor looks at the bond markets, the BoE and interest rates. Critically she identifies that the coupon does not change when interest rates do and that interest rates are a policy input not an outcome.

Still awful! But yet another example of Starmer changing his mind after asking MPs to stand by a policy he's planning to change.

Starmer plans to ease impact of immigration policy changes after backlash from Labour MPs

PM will consider exempting large numbers from proposed changes, which would leave people waiting 10 years for settled status

Are Starmer and Labour Together  trying to cover up this appalling scandal?

A thorough independent investigation is now needed into the workings of Labour Together, argues Frank Hansen. Many Labour members agree that there needs to be a complete overhaul of the Party’…

I have posted "From Here On, We Must Go Alone", https://davelevy.info/wiki/from-here-on-we-must-go-alone/ to my wiki, I was sent an English [machine] translation of a speech by Jürgen Habermas together with a prequel summary. … I am sharing below the new speech by 96-year-old Jürgen Habermas, titled “From Here On, We Must Go Alone,” which he gave at the Siemens Foundation in Munich. The other week, I was reminded of an '80s D&D Game about Baba Yaga's hut. I had a look to see if it was on the 'net, and made this note https://davelevy.info/wiki/baba-yagas-hut-in-dd/ . I don't think I found it, our game had the interior of the hut as a tesseract. Anyone else got any ideas?
Baba Yaga’s Hut, in D&D

I was playing D&D last weekend, when the topic of one of my great games, played a long time ago arose. This was Baba Yaga’s Hut. A bit of googling, states that this was published in Dragon Magazine #83. I have checked my personal [paper] archive and I do not have it. So I went...

I have updated my reset article acknowledging the signing of the "EU-UK Competition Cooperation agreement". I wonder if it fits with Reeves’s instruction to the CMA and others to prioritise growth over safety, and the Guardian article makes clear that the HMG’s eyes are on being included in the coming “Made in Europe” law.

Brexit ‘reset’ Winter 2025/26

Meetings have occurred in monitoring and managing the Withdrawal Agreement and Trade & Co-operation agreement, over the last month, but what did they say and agree. I’d say, not very much.
