Check out Project Swarm today: https://www.greynoise.io/project-swarm
Project Swarm | GreyNoise Intelligence

Project Swarm is a research initiative that opens the GreyNoise deception platform to the global security community. When you deploy a GreyNoise sensor through Project Swarm, you get visibility into all the traffic hitting that sensor, and everything your sensor captures is yours to work with.

Today’s job seekers aren’t lazy. We're exhausted.

We're:
- Submitting 100+ applications
- Waiting weeks for a response that never comes
- Getting ghosted after multiple interviews
- Facing offers that barely cover living costs

Meanwhile, companies are:
▪️ Demanding “entry-level” roles with 3–5 years of experience
▪️ Expecting free labor through unpaid projects and case studies
▪️ Dragging candidates through 6+ interview rounds for an entry level role
▪️ Posting jobs they’ve already chosen internal hires for
▪️ Rejecting qualified candidates for not having “the perfect fit”
▪️ Underpaying roles while adding 10 different job descriptions into one
▪️ Penalizing candidates for “job hopping” without asking why

This isn’t a talent shortage. This is a respect shortage.

It’s a broken hiring system that devalues candidates while blaming them for the mess.

If you’re job searching right now, remember: you are not the problem. The system is.

Happy birthday Sir Terry Pratchett. The more the world gets more cruel and unfair, the more I miss him.

Plus the Vimes boots theory remains the greatest piece of economics ever written.

Please stop asking AI for legal advice. I got yelled at today by a person who was convinced their GenAI was right and I was wrong on a legal issue bc "computers can't make mistakes."

Worse, the GenAI assured the person (wrongly) it is covered by the same attorney client privilege that lawyers are.

*sigh* I'm sad.

I wrote a really cool Windows kernel exploitation challenge for $employer's blog. I put a ton of work into designing and validating it.

just finished triaging the submissions.

almost everyone who submitted a response used an LLM and did no further analysis. none of these submissions solved the fun parts of the challenge.

the few people who didn't obviously use an LLM mostly sent in a 2-3 sentence summary of the bug, and didn't solve the fun parts of the challenge.

Every year, I help organize Minnebar, largest and longest-running technology unconference in…the US? North America? The Western Hemisphere? We’re not sure. It’s about 1000 people strong every year, and this is its 20th year. https://minnestar.org/minnebar/

The whole thing is volunteer-driven: people volunteer to lead sessions. There’s no application and no screening beyond the CoC; if you want to talk about it, raise your hand and you can.

This year, something interesting happened with the session topics.

Minnebar | Minnestar

First held in 2006, Minnebar is the nation’s largest and longest-running technology unconference. Like other unconferences (or BarCamps), Minnebar is a user-generated conference that is participant-led.

Apropos of nothing whatsoever, it occurs to me that telling an AI agent its limits is, at best, a policy control. It is absolutely not a technical control.

And treating policy controls like technical controls demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of risk.

The older I get, the more I find truth in John Perry Barlow's "25 Principles for Adult Behavior":

(the linked article doesn't matter, just mind the 25 principles)
The 25 Principles for Adult Behavior: John Perry Barlow (R.I.P.) Creates a List of Wise Rules to Live By

The most successful outlaws live by a code, and in many ways John Perry Barlow was an archetypal American outlaw all of his life.
