Hello followers. I'm DarkSim905 & I can be found at darksim905.com - I'm a System Administrator & Security enthusiast.

I run @NJ_Infosec , one of the premier infosec meetups in Central New Jersey.

I founded @TOOOL_NJ , reviving New Jersey's offical @TOOOL chapter. You may also see me at conferences helping run their lockpick villages. If you're in PA, you should check out @LVHackers - I was able to meet great people like @da_667 @sten0_SE @InfoSecSherpa & others!

@munin so, is being on your own instance what prevents me from following you due to federation? or did you have particular issues?
@TheSeaonion I left Chicago recently & didn't even experience anything delicious in Chicago. I'm kind of sad after seeing someone have amazing pizza at the airport.
@TheSeaonion where can one acquire these bacon-steaks.............?

@sten0_SE these things & putting yourself out there makes you a better person. I just wish there was a way to connect with the folks who *don't* do that, or who are unsure, or too afraid to get involved. We *need* you folks, no matter how introverted! :-)

And the great part is, every meetup just feels like family. I mean, afterward I was able to just sit & talk with Xenophage & Shadow_Ranger till the place closed. I learned so much Sysadmin still in that one sitting. A great feeling.

@sten0_SE This is so awesome to see, especially because you & I (at least, professionally) have similar backgrounds currently.

I'd echo these sentiments that we all start from nowhere/somewhere & that, if you have some fear, or you're scared or just don't do well in social situations, to try it anyway. Meetups are a great way to do that. We don't bite, honest.

I can't tell you how many wonderful people I've meet in this area just helping/going to LVHackers & running Central NJ Infosec. Doing..

Troy Hunt's little narrative tracking down a scam VPN provider has some interesting bits to it.

https://www.troyhunt.com/the-importance-of-trust-and-integrity-in-a-vpn-provider-and-how-mysafevpn-blew-it/

I like the bit where their street address is conterminous with a Pho joint.

Some observations so far:
* Doing anything is much slower here. Is this heavily dependent on the instance? More testing required.
* Why can't I just click on your status & reply to it, via the web? The ''main'' profile page seems to be an afterthought.
* Why does it take so many clicks to do anything?
* Why can't I drag columns around? At least give us *that* from TweetDeck. COME ON.
* Why do so many of you follow me? I'm a nobody
* So much to do, so little time...
