The Completely Boring Reason I Revamped My Character Art
This is Silfra Keegard, the protagonist of my trans-led epic fantasy series The Aeldstorm Saga.
A survivor shaped by reality-warping storms. Quiet, stubborn, and far more dangerous than she appears.

I write fantasy because I'm a massive nerd. I write queer fantasy because queer stories deserve to be told. I write fantasy that’s critical of religious zealotry because I lived through it, and I’m done letting those systems control the narrative.
So yeah. I write the worlds I needed when I was younger… and the ones that need to change.
As a writer I absolutely despise the term “pantser.” Maybe it’s a regional thing, but where I grew up, getting “pants’d” meant someone yanked your trousers down as a prank. So every time someone says pantser, I picture some asshole running around de-pantsing strangers. I stick with George RR Martin’s term gardener instead. It’s far less cursed.
I’ve dropped the product-page link for Fractured Rune so many times that I’ve memorized it. My ADHD brain was like “fine, I’ll store that but not where you left your keys. Sorry, not sorry.”

One of the hardest parts of writing my queer fantasy series, The Aeldstorm Saga, has been figuring out how to frame queer experiences without using the language we have in the real world. I have to show a whole spectrum of queer feelings through culture, magic, and character perspective instead of modern terminology. It’s a fun challenge, but definitely one of the trickiest parts of building a world where the queer characters exist, but the vocabulary doesn’t.
Finished the cover for Koltja’s Shadow and I cannot believe I pulled this off in three days instead of the usual weeks of agonizing.
