PineTab2 users can now flash U-Boot to SPI flash with uboot-pinetab2 2026.04-4.

Once you got the update, run the following update to install U-Boot to SPI:

sudo update-u-boot -b pinetab -d /dev/mtd0

You have to run this command on every U-Boot update as we do not update the SPI automatically.

U-Boot 2026.04 for #PineTab2 is now available!

It's recommended to upgrade to the latest for stability improvements.

Kernel 7.0 for #PineTab2 is now available in danctnix-testing repo. Please give it a try!

We're looking for graphic designer (if you can do ASCII art then that's great!) and coders for our demoscene division.

If you're interested, send us your samples, your Demozoo scener profile (if you have) and tell us what you can do in our DM. 😃

To all PineTab 2 testers,

We just pushed U-Boot 2026.01 for #PineTab2

Please help us test it out, it should be in the danctnix-testing repository.

April 1st is over.

However, we really do want to port Haiku to the RK356x.

In fact, there is progress on porting Haiku to arm64 and it seems to be making good progress: https://discuss.haiku-os.org/t/arm64-port-for-haiku/18772/1

We have NO PLANS to deprecate our ALARM-based Linux distro. 🙂

We want to port Haiku to the RK356x platform 🙂

It's a long term plan but once Haiku port for RK356x is done and ready, we'll:

- Deprecating our ALARM-based Linux distro in favor of Haiku.

- All new PineTab2 will ship with Haiku instead of traditional ALARM-based Linux distro.

- Existing users will still remain on ALARM, however there'll not be any updates (user will receive "there is nothing to do" when they tried to update it)

California's AB 1043 (Digital Age Assurance Act) is annoying, but nowhere near the danger of other age verification proposals. The requirement is for a signal of age/age bracket from OS to application. It is not verification as we usually define it.

You can make slippery slope arguments, but before you do, worth reading the stated arguments for/against the bill.

Also this bill has been law for some time now??? Goes into effect in 2027, but it became law in October 2025!
