Team OptiHeroes from MCI Innsbruck proudly competed in the CYBATHLON 2024 Vision Assistance Race, showcasing their innovative assistive technology. Led by Prof. Yeongmi Kim, they developed a smartphone-based object recognition tool and the Rolling Cane, equipped with ultrasonic sensors and vibration feedback.

MCI at CYBATHLON 2024: Team “OptiHeroes” in the Competition of Innovation

Vision Assistance Race Team OptiHeroes were delighted to compete at CYABATHLON 2024 in Switzerland.

In this perspective article, the authors provide a brief overview of key current and future applications of soft robotics in neurorehabilitation and assistance. They then review and discuss recent clinical evidence and highlight the implementation challenges and opportunities for the development, evaluation, and acceptance of such technologies.

Vom Supermarkt bis zum Cyberspace: Digital Accessibility für alle

Mit Alireza Darvishy sprechen wir über "Digital Accessibility für Alle", den Cybathlon und wie Technologie eingesetzt werden kann, um den Alltag für Menschen mit Behinderungen zu erleichtern. Welche Lösungen gibt es bereits und was muss sich ändern?  Digital Accessibility beschäftigt sich mit der Forschung und Entwicklung digitaler Technologien für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen wie Seh- und Hörbehinderungen, Legasthenie und für ältere Menschen. In dieser Podcastfolge konzentrieren wir uns auf Beispiele für Sehbehinderte.  Alireza Darvishy ist Professor an der ZHAW School of Engineering mit dem Forschungsschwerpunkt Human-Centered Computing. Er leitet das ICT-Accessibility Lab. Dort werden Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien für ältere Menschen und Menschen mit Behinderungen erforscht und entwickelt. In wenigen Schritten zum barrierefreien PDF: Mit PAVE werden PDF-Dokumente barrierefrei, damit sie gängige Vorlese-Programme korrekt interpretieren können. Für den Cybathlon entwickeln Teams alltagstaugliche assistive Technologien mit und für Menschen mit Behinderungen und treten in einem Wettbewerb gegeneinander an. Die nächste Ausgabe findet im Oktober in Zürich statt.
