Quite some time ago, this handsome rooster arrived at CWR looking for a second chance. While roosters can be challenging to place, this guy had an extra hurdle—a cross beak that made finding the right home even more difficult.

Weeks turned into months. Months turned into more months.

Baby bird feedings are grueling. Staff works from 7am to 9pm every day feeding birds, some eating every 15 minutes. The cost of mealworms alone sometimes runs over 8,000 a month but every life matters and many of rhe songbirds we get in are critically endangered.

Did you know CWR is the only facility in the area that has a large dedicated songbird program?

🪿 We change the water.

They choose the mud.

Every. Single. Time.

Fresh, clean pool water? Apparently that's for amateurs. These goslings prefer their beverages seasoned with a hint of dirt, a dash of pond scum, and whatever mystery ingredients nature tossed in overnight.

The good news? Mom and dad don't seem concerned. In fact, they look downright proud of their tiny muddy-water connoisseurs.

Some things are just hardwired into ducks and geese. ❤️

🐔 When the coop doors opened this morning, Wendy had a plan.

While everyone else headed outside to do normal chicken things, Wendy marched straight into the house, hopped onto a stack of freshly folded towels, and settled in like she'd reserved the room.

To be fair, if someone left a pile of warm, fluffy towels unattended, we'd probably make questionable life choices too. ❤️
