Mozilla right now.

@ploum One of these days we should really analyze Mozilla as a good case study of how *not* to have a viable long-term organization supporting an important Open Source project.

Mozilla has a new CEO who:

- Has been at Mozilla for less than a year
- Has no prior open source experience (but well in "fintech" and "real estate")
- Has a MBA (aka "brainworm diploma")
- Is all-in on AI

That’s exactly the kind of bingo profile the whole community has been waiting for.

Was not expecting this:

"...Second, we find heterogeneous effects of
piracy on box-office revenue across film types. For “spectacle” films, where the in-theater context adds value, there is a 24 % increase in
average weekly box-office revenue after the appearance of a high-quality pirated version online..."

@molly0xfff “how are you sleeping after committing this awful crime?” “Oh pretty well actually!”
@campuscodi I think I'll never get along with GNOME's general design principles, but darned if my general opinion of them didn't just go up like ten points all at once.
@ZoidbergForPresident @campuscodi They assume LLMs will one day lead to good, robust code. *Nothing* so far supports that belief.
Repeat after me: Separating username and password fields on separate (fucking responsive) page WILL NOT INCREASE A FUCKING SECURITY IN ANY WAY! IT WILL JUST MAKE THE PASSWORD MANAGERS TO WORK WORSE AND THUS IT WILL FUCKING DECREASE THE SECURITY!!!

EDIT: The Malwarebytes article has been updated:

"After taking a closer look at Google’s documentation and reviewing other reporting, that doesn’t appear to be the case."

This confusion could've been easily avoided if Google was more clear in how they communicate with their users.

ORIGINAL:

PSA to anyone who uses Gmail!

"Reportedly, Google has recently started automatically opting users in to allow Gmail to access all private messages and attachments for training its AI models. This means your emails could be analyzed to improve Google’s AI assistants, like Smart Compose or AI-generated replies. Unless you decide to take action."
