Microsoft banned the word 'Microslop' in its Copilot Discord server, then began restricting access after users started posting 'Microsl0p' and other funnies. Microsoft CEO and AI chief wants you to stop using words like SLOP and Microslop because it upsets them a lot. Lmao. https://www.pcgamer.com/software/ai/microsoft-banned-the-word-microslop-in-its-copilot-discord-server-then-began-restricting-access-after-users-started-posting-microsl0p-and-other-funnies/ Maybe you shouldn't force Copilot AI on everyone and steal their data to train your shitty AI and then every day tell the world how they are scared as AI is going to replace 80% of jobs?

A surge in new datacenters, each with the power demand of 100,000 households and a cooling water demand of 1,000,000 m³ per year to train AI models on material obtained without consent on hardware now unaffordable to consumers so fascism-adjacent tech billionaires can sell us the idea that any skill is now worthless and in doing so creating the largest economic bubble ever while simultaneously destroying society and environment.

I think that about sums it up.

If you're still posting content on Twitter - just know I'm thoroughly disappointed in you, and you should be pretty ashamed at this point tbh.

IUCN launches group to conserve at-risk microbes vital to life on Earth

Invisible in their trillions, microbes dwell in our bodies, grow in soils, live on trees and are integral to planetary health. Yet the huge oversized roles these teeming biodiverse microbial communities play as a foundation for life on Earth is often overlooked. And so, too, are the threats microorganisms face, especially from humanity’s actions. But […]

Hey, US TikTok users, did you know that one of the worst of the vile techlords -- Larry Ellison, who's totally in bed with Trump -- now has control of your personal data from that site?

And his minions will help decide what you see there.

The deal to secure TikTok’s future in the US has finally closed

The joint venture acquiring TikTok’s US assets has been formally established and has announced its leadership team, according to the company, one day before the deadline set by President Donald Trump for the app’s US assets to be spun off by Chinese parent company ByteDance.

@stefan idk how you can think an LLM that's already not factual citing another LLM is a good idea

Ideally education should be free (using #OER #OpenEducationalResources) so as many people as possible can use them to learn. Also, people from other cultures can more easily adapt them for their context, and such respect their culture and worldview.

I personally work on this using @wikipedia and #Wikimedia in general.
