My friend Matt turned me on to Mealie, a self-hosted app where you can keep and manage your recipes. It can scrape the web for most recipes. It doesn't directly import text or word files. Most of my family recipes are these kind of files.
Made a small Python script that converts those files to the proper JSON format for mealie to consume. It uses Claude for the conversion.

I’d reached the point where reaching for my phone first thing in the morning felt obviously bad and I just couldn’t stop. The scroll wasn’t even rewarding anymore, it was a reflex. I wanted a different default. You can’t doomscroll a piece of paper. We still read a physical newspaper in
