Commonly used drugs appear to damage your brain and greatly increase your risk of dementia.

This guy explains the problem clearly in this 8 minute video. I stopped using antihistamines like Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and Doxolamine (Equate and Unisom) to help with minor sleep issues when I learned about this and I recommend others do the same. Occasional use of these drugs is unlikely to cause long term harm, but it's important to understand what to avoid and why.

In 1865, the guns of the Civil War fell silent. Many Northerners believed the nation had been remade. Good over evil. Right over wrong. But they underestimated the determination of those who had lost. The Civil War ended 161 years ago. Yet Americans are still arguing over the same questions: who counts as a citizen, who can vote, and whose America this is.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day — June 6, 1944, when Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy to begin the liberation of Europe from fascism.

Those soldiers didn't know if they'd succeed. They showed up anyway.

We carry that same spirit into our work today.

“Pvt. Tom Porcella, also of the 508th, was torturing himself with thoughts of killing other human beings (this was common; the chaplains worked overtime assuring soldiers that to kill for their country was not a sin). “Kill or be killed,” Porcella said to himself. “Here I am, brought up as a good Christian, obey this and do that. The Ten Commandments say, ‘Thou shalt not kill.’ There is something wrong with the Ten Commandments, or there is something wrong with the rules of the world today. They teach us the Ten Commandments and then they send us out to war. It just doesn’t make sense.”

Stephen E. Ambrose, D-Day: June 6, 1944: The Climactic Battle of World War II

Monte Mader explains that for a person to be maximally creative and productive requires another person dedicated to fulfilling the creative’s basic life needs. Otherwise, the creative will be burdened by these common life needs and unable to fulfill their potential. This highlights the importance of women's traditionally unpaid labor taking care of home and family.
