A lot of activities the last 2 days on our rather small but nice Annecy airport where some world leaders attending the G7 transited there instead of Geneva.

We are still (June) contacted by large organisations to do their migration from SharePoint to GoFAST (Alfresco based). Never too late. Stay Onpremise, reduce costs, switch to opensource, improve sovereignty
We have the migration tools and expertise.

Incredible news which demonstrates that sovereignty in Europe is now more that critical

17 years ago on June 1, 2009 flight AF447 disappeared off the coast of Brazil. This anniversary a week after the announcement of the conviction on appeal of Air France and Airbus. Having worked a lot on a personal basis on this tragedy, it is quite incomprehensible that the European Aeronautical Regulator (EASA) is not also among the defendants.

Will post an updated personal analysis later on Mastodon

The French Gendarmerie led the way by migrating from Windows to Linux in order to achieve significant cost savings (half a billion euros saved over 20 years) and enhance sovereignty.

I would add that the National Police (Police Academy) is no slouch when it comes to streamlining, having chosen GoFAST to replace an in-house development.

See the article (in FR) summarizing the hearing at the National Assembly of General Marc Boget, director of the ANFSI

There is a misleading information in this article. Air France had already started to replace the faulty pitot tubes on its fleet before the crash. It was a progressive replacement because the EASA (European equivalent of FAA) in September 2008 did not ask for an immediate replacement by issuing an AD (airworthiness directive) despite several other flights incidents (at least 2 of them severe)

The wide body 767 United from Venice to Newark was really far too low last week on his RNAV29 then visual approach on Runway 29 (only 2050m long). The consequence was hitting a light pole that felt on the truck (recorded on the driver's cam) but worse could have happen.

Last segment visual approaches with a last turn close to the runway are always tricky.
