Before pumpkin season is over, I'd like to share my current creative project. I recently learned how to crochet and made this awesome mini pumpkin! Isn't it cute? Venturing into fiber arts has been a challenge, but I think I'm really enjoying it!

(Links in bio.) My painting was made to honor an important yet fragile species of American moth, which I placed in an uncharacteristic scene. This one happens to be flying outside of its typical range near some tall, barren mountains, which its species as a whole isn't well adapted to. How it arrived there is left to the imagination, but any Luna moth in this predicament would most assuredly be lost, facing some unusually harsh conditions during its short lifespan. Still, in the scene, the moth's radience glows beneath the moonlight as a visual symbol of strength and perseverance of biodiversity within less than ideal environmental conditions. And tying this all into current events- no matter how the political landscape unfolds, if we, as members of modern society, commit to protecting diversity of all kinds - not just biodiversity, we're essentially helping our community, natural and social ecosystems recover more quickly from sudden disturbances. Together, we can resist extremism, hate, violence and harsh environments by being culturally aware and supportive of each other.
