If you want the truth about what it's like to work for a company—or a specific manager—connect with past employees and have a coffee chat.

They are more likely to give you an honest answer about the reality of the company culture, what they reward, how they treat employees, and whether working there is a good fit for you or not.

A surprising number of people have the ridiculous goal: "I want to be a #billionaire!"

It's not a reasonable or wise aspiration.

You're statistically more likely to get hit by a bus.

Plus, you might want to take a closer look at the lives of these billionaires. It's not that delightful.

You know what a much better #goal is?

Being in complete control of how you spend your days. Much more achievable and amazingly delightful!

Many of our frustrations in life result from the gap between expectations and reality.

It is good to use these moments to learn, adapt, and improve. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you wished they had because of something you did or failed to do.

If it was under your control, you can adapt your strategy and approach to influence future outcomes.

But what can you actually control?

💡 Life Tip - Accept Your Lack of Control (Issue #51)

Frustration lies between expectations and outcomes. Many of our frustrations in life result from the gap between expectations and reality. We feel unhappy when our visualized outcome doesn’t come true.

What if “work” doesn’t have to be the experience many know and often dislike?

What if you could change the definition of earning a good income and making a living?

I don’t think work has to be the four-letter word we’ve let it become…

BTW, be prepared for unhappiness if you wait until retirement to design your retirement.

💡 Business Tip - Design a New Model of Retirement (Issue #45)

Leaning into purpose, passion, and fulfillment. I want to challenge this negative view of what work is. What if “work” doesn’t have to be the experience you know and often dislike? What if you could change the definition of earning a good income and making a living?

I operated my business profitably for about 8 years before I finally said, "Hmmm, looks like I'm not going back to being an employee, so I guess I should form an LLC."

When you're just starting out with a new biz idea, don't sweat all the details.

Just create something that sells.

There is an enormous risk with a "showboat leader."

They leave a hollow organization behind when they walk away.

They build nothing that lasts without their presence because they’ve never allowed their team to flex their own “vision muscles.”

🚀 The Danger of Showboat Leaders (Issue #485)

Listen now | They don't build a culture that lasts. Have you ever worked for a showboat? That’s the kind of leader who wants all the attention. They lead from the top down and expect everyone to get in line behind their vision of the future.

I've written before about why traditional #brainstorming doesn't work well for #introverts

In this article, the author explains why it doesn't work well for anyone

…however, we are solopreneurs.

We don’t need the soulless scale of a corporation.

We can build closer relationships with our customers and clients.

💡 Business Tip - Personalization Drives More Sales (Issue #38)

Take the time to know your customers better. Personalization creates a connection between you and your clients/customers. Customers prefer businesses that know their names, remember their past purchases or engagement, and can make smart recommendations.
