Rolling hills, manzanita trees, stucco and Spanish tile, the sun on your face, and the smell of the Pacific surf. Damn I miss living amongst all this in Southern California. I’ve always considered myself from Massachusetts, having formed so many early and strong memories there. But the 15 years in Oceanside is definitely a huge portion of my identity.

I don’t know if I could give up the daily views of Kulshan, Tahoma, and all the rest of the nearby mountains I get to see in Washington, but visiting LA always makes me nostalgic for the time that I lived here.

The level of self control one must have to walk up to Voodoo Doughnut and calmly eat a nutrigrain bar outside is something else.
