"While it's true that the Trump regime in the USA is unusually bad, a lot of the personality traits that we see in Trump-appointed leaders come up in a lot of corporate leaders the world over: a disdain for expertise, deep incuriosity and an unwillingness to learn shit that might change their worldviews. A lot of CEOs are generally just... dullards."

Just the linkedin-relevant, uncritical content I came here for!

@ulid000 Wow. Was ein Stillleben!
@technige Not quite sure whether that is true. The ones that did not care about their work now just use it and still don't care. And yes: maybe they do feel a tiny bit better.
But I see the glee/heartiness in a somewhat different group of people. But I'm still not quite sure where they are coming from. It could be people who always wished they could be good at what they do, but didn't want to invest too much into that?
@claudius @cbecker and it also implies that a dc will be loose value if they manage to make it more efficient.
@barubary @offseq Plus: "The vulnerability is by design". Indeed. The purpose of this thing is to run code on a remote system.

Apparently this requires restating:
We should not want a European Palantir.
We should not want an open-source Palantir.
We should not want a non-commercial Palantir.

If it is supposed to do what Palantir does, we should not want it.

And I don't care to what extent Palantir's products are shaped by political or profit motives. We know enough to reject its logic altogether.

Someone suggested not pulling any April Fool's pranks this year and I think we all need to get on board with that.

Because, you know, all this.

@can @hanshuebner @plexus This!
If our bosses want us to dig our own graves, we shouldn't be surprised. But why so many people gleefully just jump on the bandwagon is absolutely beyond me.
There is a middle ground somewhere between helping destroy everything and being the hero of the resistance movement who will be fired first.
@deafferret Isn't that enough?
But being able to use any diff tool to see the difference between two (or even three) branches is also quite nice.
