The most surprising thing about moving to a dense urban area is that every time I hear a car horn (which can be .... A lot) I feel like I need to say "honk".

I have no idea why. It's been nearly three months and I'm still doing it.

Okay, DPNs are scary, but I finished my hat!! #knitting
Scenes from my bike commutes in May. Trading a car commute for a Brompton has been the best decision for my mental health #bikedc
In my hat knitting class I learned that I've been twisting my stitches. On my simple bag knitting project (knit three squares then knit them together, I'm on square 2), I started practicing non twisted stitches and somehow dropped a bunch. I haven't had any motivation to knit since.

First rain bike commute today. Need to figure out how to keep rain off my glasses and remember to pack a dry set of shoes, but otherwise its okay.

I got my mirena replaced today. I told my doctor about my horrific experience(s) getting the first one placed, so she offered a cervical block (paired).

It was still rough and I'm pretty crampy, but I didn't get all weak and sweaty, seconds away from passing out, multiple times.

I can't believe that with a cervical block available, doctors are still out here like "it's just a pinch" rawdogging those IUDs past the cervix.

I will tell every uterus owner who is considering an IUD to get a cervical block.

Current #knitting projects!

Gray is my first hat and knitting in the round. My local yarn shop is doing a class and the first session was last night, so we did the round join and started on the ribbing. Pattern is Cardo Holiday Hats and the yarn is Plymouth Yarn Chunky Merino Superwash (also in blue).

The bright blue is my first lace project. The pattern is Tin Can Knits Gothic Lace Scarf and the yarn is Sugar Bush Yarns Crisp. I started this with multiple different yarns, but this 4-ply seemed the least likely to accidentally split while working the new stitches. I'm hoping that if I block this aggressively it'll open up more; it's not super visible even in person.

The multi color is a kit from hooks & needles subscription box (I decided to try it for my birthday last year; not a huge fan). The pattern is Sunset Swirl Tote with their merino charm yarn. Since the first step is making three squares, it's a good project for commuting on metro (can literally drop and pick up at any point, and not really pay attention to it). I got 2 subscription boxes and found the patterns uninspiring, so stopped it.

Sold my trainer bike yesterday, since I no longer have space for a bike trainer setup (and the apartment building has a gym with stationary bikes). We are now back down to (counts on fingers) having 4 bikes in the apartment.

I'm on the fence about selling the gravel bike, but am emotionally attached to my road bike. Carl is keeping his ebike and the brompton is my commuter. So we'll have at least 3 for the foreseeable future.

Commuting on the brompton (to the green line) is fun and I'm enjoying it! #bikeDC #metro #commute

Today is AC on day for our apartment building!!
