Today was the first day I’ve had chance to get out for a wander since @Greenteeth and I moved north. I ended up covering about 15k with this fantastic contraption hanging off my shoulder (including the best part of an hour just hanging out next to a hidden little brook deep in a valley).

It’s good to be back in Derbyshire again.

I am not sure what I am more tired of: packing or cleaning things that have developed a veneer of mould from being stored in cupboards.

Getting out of this damp shitbox after nine years will be such a relief.

And so it begins.

I'm currently packing up my home office in preparation for moving house, and I just found this TINY Playstation 1 controller I actually forgot I owned.

It is goddamned gorgeous and a big part of me wants to stop doing this and play some Kula World or something instead.

I had to buy a box of nine hundred assorted panhead bolts just for two M1.7 ones to repair a Weston Master light meter.

The modern age is dumb. Bring back proper hardware stores, please.

Now that is a damn fine camera.

More "orientalism" from Kew Gardens, this time a bit more modern: the ‘Chokushi-Mon’, or ‘Gateway of the Imperial Messenger’, was gifted to Kew after its inclusion in the Japan-British Exhibition of 1910 in London. There's a lovely Japanese-inspired garden behind it. I recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Another one from Kew Gardens, this time of the Great Pagoda, described on Wikipedia as a "supreme example of Chinoiserie", or the weird late-18th century obsession with "oriental" art and architecture amongst the wealthy in England.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, I guess.

It's been a while since I posted on here - I've been trying to clear through the negative and scan backlog a bit. In that process, I found these negatives from the first half of 2025 which were basically ruined due to some QC issues with Fomapan 100 in 120. It took a bit of salvaging to get something workable out of it.

This seems to happen every time I go to Kew Gardens, and I have no idea why.

I picked up a 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit in LTM a week ago. These things are pretty rare - most of the 90mm Elmarits were made in M mount. Here it's side by side with it's slightly slower brother, the 90mm Elmar; impressively, the increase in speed hasn't translated to much extra bulk.

Bloody nice lens, too.
