A Hazel automation is created to convert .webp and .heic image files to .jpg format. The automation uses a folder in Finder as a target, applies a rule with conditions for .webp and .heic extensions, and runs a shell script using the SIPS command to convert the files. The automation also optionally flags the processed images with a pink color label.
hey everyone,
you may have guessed reading between the lines, but I lost my job in the recent tech layoffs…
also burnt out and realised I need to go back to working on stuff I care about.
I hope to gather enough small monthly sponsors to at least cover the bills, so I can:
- 🖥️ create beautiful apps for #Linux / #GNOME
- ✏️ provide free #design support to #OpenSource projects
if you like my work, please consider $1/month to make this possible?
thank you. :)
i'm so tired reading all those ai generated texts on the internet. it makes me sad to see the open web die so rapidly. it's just annoying, and yes incredibly tiring. so for my own websites i stopped using all of this ai slang entirely for now, let's see how this goes
As a non native English speaker, I have decided to stop using an AI editor for my writing. I believe that the flaws and imperfections in my writing are a part of my unique voice and that the increasing prevalence of AI generated content is making the internet feel less human and more machine driven. I hope that readers will appreciate my authenticity and overlook any errors, viewing them as a learner who values human connection and feedback.

i've created the draft for this post a while ago but only now had the time to finish and publish it. nessun dorma - you all have heard this famous aria from the opera turandot by puccini. but what does the phrase actually mean and what's its context within the plotline of the opera? read a short summary here...

“Nessun dorma”, a famous aria from Puccini’s opera “Turandot”, gained global popularity after Pavarotti’s 1990 performance for the FIFA Word Cup. The aria, sung by Prince Calaf, expresses his confidence in winning Princess Turandot’s hand in marriage despite her cruel riddles. Ultimately, Calaf’s act of generosity offers Turandot a second choice to abandon her life as a cruel and lonesome princess and instead become part of a happy married couple.
This week I wrote about a couple of ways to actually get to and write down those things, those processes you don't do often enough to remember. Even if you think you'll never forget, record it anyway!!
Also, I get bossy about file names. Be super specific, in as few words as possible! Your future self is only going to remember a couple of key words around the skill they're looking for, so make sure you use them.
