a personal block is not like a server block

"It hides their posts from you, but does not hide your posts from them"

so even better than what i outlined above, you need to speak to your server admin and demand they block threads at the server level, which means a true block

example-

@Gargron, please:

you really need to block #threads

#fedipact #meta #mastodon #fediblock

Attached: 1 image If you're an ordinary Mastodon user, the "block domain" option does not block servers, it just mutes them. It hides their posts from you, but does not hide your posts from them. Only server admins can do actual blocks through defederation, preferably on a server that has activated "authorized fetch". For example, if you want to avoid threads.net, you need to join a server that has defederated threads.net. (You can find nice servers that block threads.net at https://fedi.garden) #FediTips

When discussing things, e.g. in energy and climate, that need to be done by 2040:
That's not the distant future anymore. It's as far away from today as 2010 is.

I intend to fully defederate Threads.net from Cyberplace.social in two weeks, so 23rd January 2025, unless they clarify their moderation policies.

People are welcome to migrate their account in advance to avoid losing their followers from Threads.

The reason being I cannot accept terms of service enforcement which specifically targets minority groups.

Meta's new documentation has overlaps with Kiwi Farms. It is not okay.

After close consideration we have come to the decision to block Threads.net instance wide on all related instances

(mstdn.social, masto.ai, mastodon.coffee, pixey.org, gram.social)

The new Meta policy goes against much we stand for and we will not allow to let it spill over to the Fediverse

I just checked the numbers and it seems Threads is the biggest 'loser' here

On all instances combined we lose just under 100 followers spread across all instances

Threads will lose over 13K total

"5 Schlagzeilen, die man in 🇩🇪 nie lesen wird:

1.) Preisschock: D-Ticket über Nacht 9€ rauf

2.) 17 Mrd Subventionen - Zwingt der Staat uns ins Auto?

3.) Abzocke: Öffi-Einzelticket schon über 4€

4.) Über 400 Fahrradtote - wie die Behörden versagen

5.) An Kaufkraft gemessen: Sprit immer billiger"

Since the #Meta #Threads announcements some instances have started to defederate or limit Threads bridging. https://infosec.exchange/@jerry/113793573385421061

What are the plans for mastodon.social in this regard? @Gargron

Same goes for #Blueksy bridging I guess, any plans to change/disallow that?

Hi all. Given the recent announcement from Meta about AI personas and allowed behavior, I am moving threads.net back to a limit, and will likely move them to a block in the future on infosec.exchange. I can’t ignore the reality that the changes they’re making are specifically intended to permit attacks on many of the people that call this place home. I won’t rule out that they walk the changes back, which is why I’m not jumping to sever the nearly 4000 mutual follow relationships between people on threads and here.
