Writing has so many ups and downs. One day, you're celebrating a project, and the next, you're pouring a drink because another one died in the trenches
I've been MIA here, but that because I've been busy writing! Today I finally completed my 7th full length ms!!!!! 🥳 🎉

The arguments for using #camelCase(Capitalizing the first letter of each word in a #hashtag): (Or #PascalCase)

It's inclusive for people using assistive technology

It makes the hashtag easier to parse for everyone - especially people learning a language, and those with learning disabilities.

The primary argument against it is simply that hashtags have traditionally been all lowercase.

Let's make accessibility the norm rather than the exception. #Accessibility Matters

I'm currently in the process of raising my prices, but until Dec 15th I'm still offering $150 website builds on Wix for authors/creatives

#Question for the #Mastodon veterans-- #Newbie here

Does a ⭐️ really not matter?

I love interacting with people's posts this way to let them know I stopped and read their words. I like getting the "favourited your post" notifications for the same reason. But in my short time here, people have downplayed its importance. I understand it doesn't help boost anything, but it's a reminder the words you put out do matter to someone, no?

Loving the spot I chose to write from today. The inspiration for this project is taken directly from what's around me and had made this project easy to write

With the Twitter reinstatement of the former US President who attempted to incite a fascist coup after losing an election, now would _really_ be a good time to stop cross-posting your Twitter RTs here.

If you feel that cross-posting is the only way to maintain a presence here, please consider limiting it to original posts without mentions or RTs, to avoid cluttering timelines with Twitter URLs. Thank you kindly for your consideration.

So I decided to totally abandon Twitter because they're reinstating a certain orange oompa loompa. It's freeing to know I'm done with that place

Dear Twitter Expats:

I am one of you and can attest that we are welcome here. But we've also overrun the place, brought some chaos, and created a lot of extra work for admins.

I encourage you to take a minute. Relax. Explore. Spend some time learning why Mastodon doesn't have Quote Boosts, does have Content Warnings (CW), and loves alt text. This isn't Twitter and doesn't want to be, and that's a good thing. Your experience here will be different, as it should be. Enjoy.

Things I've learned about Mastodon this week:

1. Photo captions are read by screenreaders for people who have impaired vision. The more descriptive you make them, the more people can appreciate your post.

2. Hashtags should be "camel style" which means you capitalize each word in the tag - this enables screen readers to identify different words in the tag,

3. Reblogging boosts posts and favourites do not.

4. Hashtags are way more important here than on the birdsite.
