Explaining a 31-month sentence for a tweet

Apropos of several things floating across my TL, I just want to say as somebody who teaches college:

Yes, absolutely, politically conservative students on campus end up feeling uncomfortable in their views, constantly challenged. 100%.

So do leftists.

So do centrists.

So do students who attempt to be apolitical.

Nobody gets to hang out on campus feeling comfortable and cushy in their worldview. That is…you know…kind of the point of the place.

@BlurryBits Yes, I know there are EV designs with built-in solar panels of a few hundred W. Mostly they are a gimmick, though it is possible to harvest some charging in this way as long as the rest of the car is powered down…
@BlurryBits The minimum charging current for an EV charger on AC is 6A (or ~1,400W). The actual conversion efficiency at that current is likely to be poor; most EVs need 10A or more for reasonable efficiency. In theory, you can go lower with DC charging, but this is an expensive way to do it (currently). Remember the vehicle alone uses a few hundred watts just to power up; 200W solar would not achieve anything in practice.
@suihkulokki @clanger9 Thanks, yes it could be that they are providing load following services and emergency response. If so, seems odd that it’s a constant 2.4GW. 5GW nuclear will certainly be providing inertia, but I don’t think they can load follow 🤔
Why is this here? Right now, UK could (and should) be on 100% renewable energy. But we have 2.4GW of gas generation online. Sure this isn’t because the most expensive generation sets the price? 🧐

Dear #BBCNews

Maybe people would better understand the criminal sentence if you referred to this as a "violent tweet", not a "racist tweet".

The judge is clear that the sentence was directly tied to her incitement to violence (eg, burning down migrant hotels).

Don’t see many of these in rural Wales #weirdcarmastodon

@clanger9 That custom little opera window is something I've never seen before.

Edit: remnant from when this car had the vinyl "landau" roof or whatever it was called. Neato.
