Wednesday was the birthday of the late Dr. Alvin Weinberg.
Inventor of the water reactor used in practically every nuclear plant in the world - who later disliked its poor safety.
Weinberg lead a team which built a far superior reactor based on pressure molten salts but this was killed for political reasons.
If he had had his way, we may have actually realized the promise of clean safe cheap nuclear energy.
