A guy who barely passed high school Turbo Pascal is now trying to learn Linux & how to fully migrate off mainstream web.

Forget about #AI taking away our jobs for one minute- I just canceled an AI subscription for job hunting because one of the larger LLMs can do it better, and beyond the limited scope. For cheaper.

Big AI is taking away mom and pop AI models 🥺

@cjbxz and there should be power consumption meter attached to them. Or perhaps have it with openweighted models running on the same commodity hardware. Love your idea, it is quite neat way how to measure reasoning efficiency, not only accuracy

Need a modern game show like Jeapordy, but all the contestants are the top LLMs and they have to compute extremely elaborate prompts. Beyond needing to be first to answer, be accurate, exhibit complexity & efficiency- there could be a spin like in the olympics where they’re graded on style.

It’s crazy to think that right now, in the era we are currently living, will be thought of as “the good old days of AI and LLMs. Back when things were free and open and you could do anything.”
I have never cared much for #music #streaming services. Most my music listening is of independent productions sent as promos, or bootlegs, or is unreleased. All I want is to be able to stream my recent mp3 imports to my phone, rate them + leave notes on the go so that I can come home and add them to my DJ library. This #lidarr #navidrome #tubifarry #beets #metadataremote just might be the solution i've been waiting for for years.

I'm back making updates to my #homelab. I found a great article that introduced me to a #slskd plugin for #Lidarr and most importantly, for me, automated metadata editing AND a webUI to edit the id3 tags for my #music from anywhere! You have NO idea for how many years I've wanted this.

It could also be one of my external hard drives i’m using for media storage is starting to go bad. I am thinking this because when I over-do it by accessing music and movie files at the same time from multiple devices, or read/write from several qbittorrent downloading at once the system is likely to crash. Then the computer can’t restart properly because the drive won’t be able to safely eject. This results in a hard reboot and fdsk check. #homelab #troubleshooting #support #techsupport
So, apparently my memory is fried. This is the second duo of memory my homelab has corrupted. Something’s going wrong and the only thing I can think of was I was using a third-party battery charger for my laptop. I’m not sure how to diagnose things further
#homelab

No updates in a while because I’ve taken a social media break. But one quick update on the homeland project- I’ve been having memory crashes and problems mounting/unmounying external HDD’s that are accessed by certain containers. It causes hang-ups and an inability to clear out caches. Ty main focus as of late has been improvements in stability and efficiencies.

Also, I need to migrate a ton of Apple Music playlists over to Navidrome and Mixx so that I can start DJing again. #homelab

It’s been a few weeks since I logged in an update on my Homelav. Last time I mentioned my server running docker had a failing hard disk… and NOW, as of a couple days ago, my proxmox server has been having kernel panic issues. Turns out one of the RAM sticks finally gave out and was causing problems. So now I’m waiting for the replacements to arrive.

What’s great is that because my hardware is so old, the cost of upgraded components is CHEAP. I’m happy I kept these devices around.
