Loop Garden

That’s easy to decode, it says “The songs whisper nine secrets. Hear them and find the way forward. loopgarden.io/xxxxxxxxx.zip”

There are 8 songs on the album. Several have Morse code at the end.

Unfortunately it’s almost 1am here and I should go to bed.

Today I had a song by “loopgarden” in my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist. I liked it, so I went to check the artist page and the only description is a bunch of hex encoded ASCII text.

Insta nerd snipe.

I completely missed that volume 12 of Saga was released. Only the 3rd TPB in the last 7 years, makes it somewhat hard to stay invested in the story. Fiona Staples' art is as gorgeous as ever though. Anyway, my favorite #comic in recent years and one of my all-time favorites too.

My feedback to the EU regarding the newly proposed law forcing all websites to plaintext store everything users do or write for law enforcement.

This may be the dumbest law the EU has proposed as of yet, and it already attempted chat control and article 13 / 11, so this says a lot!

Not only have providers complained for decades about the cost of storing so much user data, of which 99.99999% won't ever be used, but also does law enforcement rarely need this kind of data, and by the time they've legally gained access to it, it won't be stored anymore.

It's a horrid invasion of our privacy, but the perfect tool for fascist regimes, for whom we are paving the way with this!

If you only invite corporate spyware lobbyist orgs to draft a law, this is the result. Peter Thiel couldn't have written a better proposal.

Stop this law if you wish for any citizen of this continent to respect you as an institution!

@matthegap Der "Platz der Wiener Großartigkeit" ist in Hernals 🖤🤍

I think we should tell Gen Z that Head Cleaner's "Play Both Sides" was the 🔥 album of 1986
@selzero
There is a really good track on there called "Q-tip and Rubbing Alcohol."

@selzero

As I remember, it was a short song.

Even We Will Rock You was longer.

@selzero I have it on vinyl 🫠
@selzero so many alcohol soaked parties, full of dirty head. what a legend!

@airshipper @selzero

How did we...

Survive

Not get arrested

😳

@Arapalla @airshipper @selzero Busted in ‘70, VW Bus. Bailed 4 hours later for $30.

@stevewfolds @airshipper @selzero

How cool was that? 😎

@Arapalla @airshipper @selzero We were trying to to smoke an ounce of weed and had a case of beer

@stevewfolds @airshipper @selzero

Nice.

Beer bongs rule 🤣🤣🤣

@stevewfolds @Arapalla @airshipper @selzero

Oh man I feel this so deep, so many memories, this is our culture, my Brethren in Weed

Blue Öyster Cult – Then Came the Last Days of May (Lyric video)

YouTube

@selzero Oh! And I always thought the song was "Headcleaner" by the avantgarde-band "play both sides"

And Einstürzende Neubauten then covered that in 1996...

Einstürzende Neubauten - Headcleaner (full version)

YouTube

@heiglandreas Came here to mention this from arguably the best era of Neubauten.

@selzero

@xinit @heiglandreas @selzero came here to say this, too.
@heiglandreas @selzero Although "Head Cleaner" sounds like an awesome name for a band. The sort of new wave band that opened the act for "Talking Heads".
@heiglandreas @selzero This is my favourite Beatles cover.
@heiglandreas @selzero And I came here to mention that classic cover. It's really all you need.

@heiglandreas @selzero this is it, right here.

The band "Head Cleaner" is pro hard drugs and their gritty hit "Play Both Sides" is about cops and doing jail time..

While the band "Play Both Sides" is a World Music Hippy Band, and their hit "Head Cleaner" is about enlightenment and things that make you flip the paradigm.

@heiglandreas
In Germany the band performed under the name "Reinigungsband".
@selzero

@heiglandreas
absolutely right, but it was 1993 (tabula rasa) ;)

unforgettable concert in düsseldorf. some idiot shouted at the band "you've become so boring!" and mark chung slowly approached a mic and calmly replied: "art." brilliant.
@selzero

@yrlaNor @selzero where did I get the 1996 from.... 🤔

Might have been a transfer-error 🙈

Thanks for setting that straight!

@selzero but it was....

I mean their number one song is still

"Squeeck, squeeck, rattle, grind, click."

@selzero Inspiration source for Phil Collins' "Both Sides" album.
@selzero some guys I knew at highschool had a crust/grind band called Head Cleaner. They were quite fun.

@selzero

And in a rare event, Einsturzende Neubauten's cover was even better than the original.

@selzero But the b side was better...just less popular

@selzero

I always preferred the b-side. The sound was really clear on that.

@selzero we put on a cassette storybook for our kids back in 2005 or so passed on to us by neighbors. After a while they wandered away and when we asked them, they said it’s broken. We turned it over and their eyes🤣🤣🤣
@selzero Wasn't it the OST for the film Eraser Head? 😏 😬 😅
@selzero @cstross “You know, I’ve heard that there was a vinyl reissue in the early 2000s that’s a very rare collectors item now. Make sure you ask whether they have a copy at your local record stores.”
@selzero there was also a german band from around that time called Bandsalat and everyone hated it
@selzero These Album was the "finisher" of every party 😉
@selzero I had the special yellow edition of this 😊.
@selzero I've the Vinyl "No tribute to...". It is a very calm album 😉🤷‍♂️

@selzero i prefer Atmos - Head Cleaner

@selzero It sounded better than the Showaddywaddy tape my auntie bought me for my birthday in 1977.
Where is the pencil?
@selzero I'm younger than that sound but It was really good
@selzero Would gen Z even know what a cassette is? 🙂
@loke @selzero Yes! At least I do. But uh, seeing this post in isolation, I thought "Head Cleaner" was an actual band and they just had a very strange/humorous album name until I read the comments.
@selzero With popular re-releases every year in that era :D
@selzero
I had the CD version, 'This side up'.
@pthane
Lens cleaner was a different band altogether. However they did both share the same drummer A Brush.
@selzero
@pthane @selzero
I have a compilation on CD-R from a record label that used to release all their CD-R promos with "BLUE SIDE DOWN" printed on the disc.
@selzero I am Gen z and that is bs
@Mik3y @selzero
Well we can tell it to AI too : -)

@selzero @magdalenahai

Tbh, that would be a solid name for an actual album.

@selzero Darling, I wouldn't know a "Head Cleaner" from a brainwashing apparatus, which, incidentally, is what most of these so-called albums are.
@selzero And “Be Kind, Rewind” was the number one movie that summer.
@marcintosh @selzero
I watched so many rentals growing up that my family just bought a tape rewinder. Good times!
@marcintosh @selzero I worked at blockbuster as a kid. YES.
@selzero much like my most played game on my Xbox One was "Network Troubleshooter"
