Its about consideration & would others want to see something without having the option of choosing to. Its just about being courteous & considerate, which you are.

On the bird site, people tend to retweet horrid stuff, point at it outraged & noone has a choice if it comes in their timeline.

Here you can hide it behind a subject line so people can choose to engage.

Also, alt text your images for those with accessibility requirements please!

2/2. Holding the handrail above with my right (phone in left playing mindless game) & as I see her getting up, I swap so hold with my left to give her room to get past.

Her near empty coffee cup catches my hand as it drops but it spins & sprays a guy opposite mostly on his legs with drips.

I apologise profusely to him as she bolts. Im red faced for rest of journey.

Warterloo: get on train, sit down & its opposite the same guy!

I again apologise profusely. He is totally magnanimous.

#WeirdestDay today.

Had a few users trying out their new devices & both had issues with connecting to wifi & the 802.1x certificate.

Looked through all the cert request details on the config profile & then they siddenly can connect. Didnt even change anything.

Then had the #WeirdestThing happen on the #tube home:

Moved to the middle of the carriage as going from Warren St to Waterloo. At Charing Cross, tube has pulled in & doors were open, suddenly woman behind me gets up to get off. 1/2

@stinerman Look at the users favouriting and you'll see if theyre local or on other servers.

I think unless people are used to 'federated timeline', it might be too fast for them (go into preferences and click 'slow mode' for it to update when you click it), so likely local users

@ignatiusmusic Welcome!

Think of it like the internet back in the 90s before corporations ran their grubby hands over everything!

Decentralised, old school vibes and generally nice etiquette.

@misc It might with the local instance but if you follow people over on crowded instances that experience performance issues, they might not show up on your feed for a while.

It's the nature of decentralised servers unless you find one run by a bunch of very knowledgeable, dedicated techies!

@JoeSondow There's another option: your friend could move from that instance

@pandangirl You can but etiquette suggests that you place a content warning on anything that you think others might like forewarning about.

That could be salty language or a range of subjects such as politics, life experiences that require trigger warnings and including talking about the bird site & it's new owner
