@incomparable This made me go back and listen to the Real Genius episode and yeah… did not expect the Tears for Fears rendition from @raccoona. Magical.

@atpfm One for @caseyliss‘s F1 corner/apex: this is a really nice interview with the DP behind the F1 Movie.

Sharing as it also covers some of the standard F1 broadcasting systems and challenges so makes it interesting for any new F1 viewer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jorGcSZB4E

@atpfm Mind blown. @marcoarment I missed why you didn’t just continue using the MacMiniColo type companies… just to make it cheaper in the long run if you can do it yourself?

Beyond the cool tech functionality is there any ROI for the capex investment of the Mac Minis? Doesn’t seem your style but did you think of a B2B type thing where you provide an API for other podcast players to ask for a transcript and pay you for it?

I really like this arricle from @craigmod. I keep a text file titled “app ideas” with a bunch of iOS and Mac app ideas, and it genuinely feels exciting to quickly be able to develop them.

I don’t know where this leaves us with maintainability, or sharing this code back to the FOSS community which allowed for it in the first place. Nor where it leaves libraries, shared tools, and modular code.

@atpfm I specially downloaded the usual file (I’m a bootlegger) to catch the audio clip @siracusa asked for and… no clue 😆

I will say though, it was nice yet odd to me in how it sounded, given the extra production detail. Funny, how you get used to things… it sounded so much cleaner. (I’ll be sticking with the bootleg though.)

@atpfm (Overtime) Is there not an analogy to radio and TV? For a time, radio was everything. TV displaced a lot, but there’s still plenty of talk radio, and it remains popular.

@siracusa @marcoarment to quote the modern-day philosophers, The Buggles, video killed the radio star. Except, not really…

@atpfm I for one look forward to hearing about @marcoarment invoking JohnGPT.

(Jokes aside, I really enjoyed the discussion of all this.)

Lovely murmurations yesterday evening, and it’s finally starting to feel like spring.

@atpfm Finally gotten around to listening to this one. I’m more confident than ever that I never want @siracusa reviewing my code 😆

(Also, I’ve never been more sure that you all are “my people”, as when you’re talking about Geocities, writing your own CMS’s, etc. Makes me think back my peak of having a popular script on DynamicDrive.com!)
