Taking a short trip to Toronto to do some archival research on a film from Expo 67, and my train into town was number 67. I will take this as a good sign.
Took me a few decades to get here, but I finally made it!
Exciting day ahead! #TEAAS2023
Overheard at #IAAPAExpo2023 : “You can come here and buy cups or a twenty-million dollar ride.”
And so it begins #IAAPAExpo 2023
Had a wonderful time meeting folks at the Theme Park Play workshop at MIT this past Friday. Now, onward to Florida for IAAPA and the TEAAS!
This Friday I'll be at MIT for a workshop on theme park play, then on to Orlando for #IAAPAExpo and the Themed Experience and Attractions Academic Symposium where I'll have a poster. A really packed week for theme park studies—hopefully I can get to an actual park somewhere in there too!
For anyone interested in historical IMAX film, I'll be part of a panel at the Thinking Allowed Colloquium this coming Thursday, presenting some of my ongoing work reconstructing the Fuji Group Pavilion from the 1970 World's Fair. You can even watch on Zoom/YouTube! https://www.concordia.ca/cuevents/offices/provost/fourth-space/programming/2023/10/19/architectures-for-immersion.html
