A forgotten ancient incantation for a secret project is in progress.
Once upon a time, before the internet and subscription services ruined everything, we used to carve bits of data onto the surfaces of translucent plastic disks with lasers. Freaking lasers!
And we did this on computers than were way slower than the chip in a modern car's key fob.
I said it before, and I'll say it again: These cheap mid-90s, late 486 systems are like cockroaches - disgusting, but will survive just about anything, including a nuclear apocalypse.
This one was first used as some desktop machine in a library. When that life ended, it ran 12 years 24/7 as my first Linux server, until the HDD died. Then the next 15 years it rot in corners of various basements. Almost got thrown away several times.
And it lives. 1995 World Domination. 😅
Differences game!
There are a few differences between these two CDTV controllers. Collect them all!
More fun with C264 series - I also got these three "modern" Plus/4 game cartridges a friend bought at some retro meeting to try out. They all work fine, unsurprisingly.
These don't work in a C16, they need more RAM. So out comes my 64K-expanded C116! 😁
The Elite port by Pigmysoft is a true classic, the Stunt Car Racer port is a modern masterpiece. Mad Pod Race I did not know from before -it seems to be a Plus/4 original? Anyway, It was fun to try it out.
Lately it seems to be "the law", that all C264 series must come with a free black Datasette. 😅 This one is no exception. But it also came with three original games on cassette tapes! I don't know when I last loaded software from a tape, but it wasn't in this decade. Or the previous. And likely wasn't in this century.
It needed a bit of "encouragement" and a few tries, but it worked in the end. It's the worst crackout game I've seen - a reminder why these were a flop.
Some 264 series fun - I got this C16 from a local Commodore 64 user who had it laying around for a long time, but never did anything with it, and he wanted it to go to a better home.
It was known to be "gets to the BASIC screen" working, but it also passes Diag264 with flying colors. Nice.
I will remove the peeling "helper" labels put on it by the original owner, but I will put them in a plastic bag, them and keep them with the machine. They belong to its history.

Today at the @berlincreators Retro/Amiga meeting, we spontaneously managed to pull off the first ever Mirari PowerPC User's Meetup! ... At least in Berlin. But maybe globally? 😅
The BCC#20 beam/stream setup was a difficult one to pull off, largely for self-inflicted reasons... But we're almost there.
Treated myself to a SecretLab TITAN Evo XL NanoGen™ Pure Black gaming chair. Home office means, I literally live in this chair 8+ hours a day, so I tried to have something nice for once. No regrets so far.
I also had a cheaper gaming chair by Tesoro before, which was also nice initially, but I used it so much that it literally disintegrated after 5 years. (I bought it in mid-2019.)
This one was a lot more expensive, but also feels more "premium". We'll see how it will hold up.
