Strategizing a move across an ocean, which means cleaning out my basement full of parts and projects :(

So many of these objects came to me because they were unwanted, and I’m sad that for many of them, I never found a use or a purpose.

My recent linking a CVE-2025-21204 PoC is in fact BS. Deeper inspection of the PoC demonstrated no connection between the code and C:\inetpub, and what's more, the "evidence" didn't show privilege escalation.

I had concerns this was LLM crap, and I should have trusted those instincts.

I’ve been having a great time at work migrating VMs off of a VMWare cluster and onto a #proxmoxVE one. Not only is this a fun and legal thrill, but we won’t have to give my entire salary to Broadcom for licensing this year. 🎉

This week, I'm again starting my #SysAdmin class where we focus on a lot of practical aspects commonly missing in Computer Science curricula. I'm running the same class as an internal study group at work as "Internet Operations".

The syllabus and all course info is available here:

https://stevens.netmeister.org/615/

All video lectures are public and available for free on YouTube:

Follow along! I'll be posting weekly links in this thread throughout the semester.

CS615 -- System Administration

Recently at work I have found a lot of crusty old VMs nobody cares about, still live on my network. Today’s the first day in a while I haven’t found anything to decommission :(

Maybe I should find another outlet for this desire, like selling off my basement electronics hoard.

@hacks4pancakes @GossiTheDog but! i still think that if you work for Palantir, you should go tell someone like 404 or me what you're up to! Just you know, for shits and giggles.

new account, so an #introduction is in order.

I’m a longtime sysadmin and occasional contributor to weird open-source operating systems. I’m old enough to remember Usenet but not CP/M. I’m a cis woman from the US and a reformed pick-me girl.

I like network protocols that allow the attacker to specify offsets in the data stream. I like programming languages that help me make better implementations than I otherwise would. I like cleaning and fixing old hardware.

I would like to see pictures of cats.
