@Jaden3 I'm old enough that I saw Rodney King happening in real time.
It was a moment that shocked me as a suburban white person who thought "we" were better than that.
I thought the visibility would cure racism, that it being right there on video would make it undeniable.
It never did. More videos over the years of increasingly higher quality and we are still murdering innocent black men, women, and children. And it's still a fucking toss up every time if someone will be held accountable.
I had no idea how deeply, deeply racist this country is until then.
We have to say
#BlackLivesMatter not because all lives don't matter but because millions of people think black lives don't matter. That's the country we live in here in the USA.
