And ofc the leader of the Dutch KKK Party, the PVV said "it was a good job" and next time "he wanted to participate"

The #Dutch are sinking deeper and deeper into the crap

This is why people don't support big media. Greta Thunberg was kidnapped. Point blank. Was on international waters. Israel is not the world Police. They do not have jurisdiction in international waters. That is kidnapping. No denying it. And not a single large media corporation is mentioning that. What the hell is wrong with this world?

Als een groep burgers reflecterende jasjes aantrekt en aan de grens passeerders gaat aanhouden omdat ze zonodig asielzoekers willen tegenhouden is dat onvervalst en let wel illegaal eigen rechter spelen.

Naast het enge dat er zulke gekken bestaan is het nog veel meer beangstigend dat het vrijwel ontbreekt aan politieke en publieke woede daarover.

Elf keer heb ik het geprobeerd, het gekkengetal, maar de laatste alinea van het hoofdredactioneel van Pieter Klok in de @volkskrant kan ik niet anders lezen dan dat volgens hem columnist Asha ten Broeke het vertrouwen ondermijnt in onafhankelijke media en dat ze daarmee de democratische rechtstaat schaadt. Niet alleen ben ik het daar inhoudelijk hartgrondig mee oneens, ik word ook nog eens onpasselijk van zo’n gebrek aan collegialiteit. Klok heeft het hart van een haas, Ten Broeke van een leeuw.

@mcornick where is the annoying floating video that has no relation to the article you're reading, with a tiny or nonexistent close button? 🙃

@mcornick And often enough, when you click the X on that, another popup comes up. Then, when you close that one, it turns out it was a paid article and you can't read it anyway.

We all started blocking popups for a reason. It even became a browser default to not allow popups except for specific conditions such as a click because it was abused so much. But apparently no one took the hint and just invented a new kind of in-page popup that is even more annoying (because you can't simply ctrl+w these.)

And they actually have the audacity to demand we turn off our ad blockers while doing this...

@mcornick I have discovered that in some cases these "pop ups" are just cover elements that can be removed by deleting lines of code using the web debugging option e.g. Firefox

From mobile with firefox if you use this function (image attached) you can some times bypass the pop up and still read the article.

@mcornick @Crell I’m designing a new business site right now. Going old school. So far it has zero javascript and zero trackers. I’ll add progressive enhancement. CSS in the <head>, with just 1 breakpoint. No ads. No build process. It feels fast as hell developing this way. Iteration is instant.

It's difficult to overstate how bad Medium is.
