Well, winter has arrived in #Winnipeg. It was an awfully snowy walk home from work tonight! Kind of nice to get a coating of snow, in a weird way.

Dabbling in the weather, programming, guitar, and board games.
A little while ago I decided to head back to the first #boardgame I bought back in 2018 and spent an evening playing Fallout: The Board Game (with the New California and Atomic Bonds expansions).
In addition to being a bit of a warm blanket game (it kickstarted a hobby that was huge for my mental health through the beginning of the pandemic), the expansions brought it to a place where it's a solidly good and fun game that nails the #Fallout theme to a tee.
After a long hiatus, I finally got #cloudspire by Chip Theory Games back to the table last night. Started the solo for the Horizon’s Wrath expansion faction. Failed once pretty quickly, but the second go I got a handle on how to use the Swabbies and did much better. I also really enjoy how much more dynamic this faction is; Lifeboats allow you to be far more aggressive with your heroes and then pull them back to your fortress to heal. Looking forward to scenario 2! #boardgames
I was pretty ambivalent about Apple’s Touch Bar on my 2018 MacBook Pro, but after just a couple weeks with BetterTouchTool, I don’t think I’d want to be able to go back to a laptop without one. I’ve been able to create a custom HUD, always accessible iTunes controls, a complete set of widgets to see almost every stat I could want from my personal weather station (with conditional appearances!), and custom application-specific, as well as file-specific, controls.
I've been playing with touch bar customizations to make it more useful for me, and this is one I really like. I have a personal weather station powered by Cumulus MX and set up a Launch Agent to automatically query the CMX webserver API every minute and write the result to disk (tries via Bonjour address then falls back to my actual external IP). I've then set up a bunch of BTT widgets to show current conditions. Tapping a condition opens a button group that shows an overview for that element.
